RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO JAMES R. BROWN
_FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS SUPERINTENDENT
OF THE PALO ALTO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, James R. Brown became an important part of Palo
Alto in mid -1989 as Superintendent of the Palo Alto Unified School
District (PAUSD); and
WHEREAS, James R. Brown demonstrated his professionalism,
dedication, commitment, and involvement to benefit Palo Alto school
children and enhance the Palo Alto community; and
WHEREAS, James R. Brown's chairmanship of the statewide
superintendents' committee urged continuous educational growth in
California; and
WHEREAS, James R. Brown participated in Leadership
Mid -Peninsula and the American Leadership Forum, and his service as
President of the Palo Alto Rotary gave him the opportunity to bring
his concerns and excitement to the community beyond the PAUSD; and
WHEREAS, James R. Brown's remarkable leadership
contributed to the wonderful success of the 1995 school bond
campaign; and
WHEREAS, James R. Brown will continue his vision and
enthusiasm to guide children to a bright and promising future at
the Glendale Unified School District, a school district almost four
times larger than the PAUSD; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto extends best wishes to
James R. Brown as he embarks on this challenging endeavor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere
appreciation and the appreciation of the community to James R.
Brown for his excellent service as Superintendent of the Palo Alto
Unified School District.
