RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO JANET STONE
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE
HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Janet Stone served the City of Palo Alto as a
member_ of the Human Relations Commission from April 1990 to
March 1996; and
WHEREAS, Janet Stone provided advocacy and expertise from
her background in affordable housing and her commitment to civil
rights; and
WHEREAS, Janet Stone demonstrated effective leadership as
Chairperson of the Commission for two terms and as liaison to the
Another Way Campaign, the Disability Awareness Transition Team, the
Youth Council, and the Mediation Program; and
WHEREAS, through her dedication as a voice of concern and
compassion for those less fortunate, Janet Stone instituted various
public forums on topics of concern elicited from the Human
Relations Commission's annual needs assessment hearings; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and
thank Janet Stone for her personal commitment to the community and
interest in the City of Palo Alto and for her personal efforts and
dedication as a member of the Human Relations Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the.
City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere
appreciation and the appreciation of the community to Janet Stone
for her faithful and excellent service rendered to the City.
