RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF pALo ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO SANDRA EAKINS
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE
PUBLIC ART COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Sandra Eakins serVed the City of Palo Alto as a
member of the Public Art Commission from May 1991 through August
1995; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Eakins served as chair of the Public Art
Commission from February 1993 through May 1995; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Eakins helped author materials that led
to the receipt of a United States Conference of Mayor's Livable
~ities award. for Byxbee Park; represented the Public Art
Commission on the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, leading to
her· appointment as CPAC co-chair i successfully used a slide
presentation to inform political and community leaders of the vital
role that public art can play in a city's quality of life; and
provided leadership and advice leading to the acquisit'ion of one
mural, forty two-dimensional works of art, and six sculptures; and
. WHEREAS, Sandra Eakins gave unselfishly of her time and
talents in support of the City of Palo Alto Art In Public Places
Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and
thank Sandra Eakins for her personal commitment to the community
and interest in the City of Palo Alto and for her contributions and
efforts while serving with distinction as a member of the Public
Art Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its
sincere appreciation and the appreciation of the community to
Sandra Eakins for her faithful and excellent -service rendered to
the City.
