HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO7583RESOLUTION 7583 RESOLUTION OF THE -COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO LOU VERNA UPON HIS RETIREMENT WHEREAS, Lou Verna served the City of -Palo Alto and its citizens as a member of the Palo Alto Police Department from March 18, 1968, through April 15, 1996, and was promoted to the rank of Agent November 2, 1975; and WHEREAS, Lou Verna served the Palo Alto community in all aspects of law enforcement, starting with walking a beat, riding a three-wheeler, and working the night desk at the old police station; and WHEREAS, Lou Verna was a pioneer of the field training program, served- as an evidence technician and Explorer Post Advisor, and was an active Training Officer with the San Francisco Airport Academy; and WHEREAS, Lou Verna worked in the Investigative Services Division for over four years, cleared many important cases by arrest, and recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of stolen property; and WHEREAS, Lou Verna has received over fifty commendations, ranging from the capture of- two armed robbery suspects to saving the life of a heart attack victim; and WHEREAS, Lou Verna pursued his 28 -year law enforcement career with dignity, loyalty, fairness, courtesy, and professionalism. NCW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding public service of Lou Verna and records its appreciation, as well as the appreciation of the citizens of this community, upon his retirement.
