RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO THEODORE A. CHANDIK
UPON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Theodore A. Chandik has served the City of Palo
Alto as a member of the Recreation, Open Space and Sciences staff
from February 1964 to May 1996, a total of more than 32 years; and
WHEREAS, Theodore A. Chandik has served as a Science
Instructor, Nature and Science Specialist, and Naturalist,
providing quality environmental and science education programs and
exhibits to generations of youths and adults at the Junior Museum
and Zoo, Foothills Park, the Arastradero Preserve, the Palo Alto
Baylands, and other public facilities; and
WHEREAS, using his considerable knowledge and love of
nature, Theodore A. Chandik has served as a resource and mentor to
other City staff; and
WHEREAS, Theodore A. Chandik has served as a volunteer in
his community through the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the
National Audubon Society and other nature and environmental
organizations; and
WHEREAS, Theodore A. Chandik has inspired people of all
ages to develop an appreciation for and understanding of the
natural world; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and
thank Theodore A. Chandik for his personal commitment to the
community and for his significant personal efforts and substantial
dedication as a member of the City staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding public
service of Theodore A. Chandik and records its appreciation, as
well as the appreciation of the citizens of this community, upon
his retirement.
