RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO SANDY EAKINS
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE
PLANNING COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Sandy Eakins served the City of Palo Alto as a
member of the Planning Commission from August 13, 1995, to
January 21, 1997; and
WHEREAS, Sandy Eakins served on the Comprehensive Plan
Advisory Committee from December 1992 to December 1994 and the
Public Art Commission from May 1991 to August 1995 and brought to
the Planning Commission her great interest in the balanced
development of the City, her love of public art in all forms, and
her vision for a "walkable" city; and
WHEREAS, Sandy Eakins unselfishly contributed her
architectural, planning, and urban design knowledge; offered her
understanding of Palo Alto issues; shared her optimism on the
opportunities for Palo Alto; and provided expertise in aesthetics,
design, and economics; and
WHEREAS, Sandy Eakins' significant personal contributions
were made in the interest of guiding the development of the
community while striving to maintain a high degree of design
standards; and
WHEREAS, Sandy Eakins has moved on to new challenges and
opportunities as a Member of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and
thank Sandy Eakins for her personal commitment and pride in the
community, for her significant personal efforts and vision, and for
her. substantial dedication as a member of the Planning Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its
sincere appreciation and the appreciation of the community to Sandy
Eakins for her faithful and excellent service rendered to the City.
