RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO DR. LINDA MILLER
UPON HER RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Miller served the City of Palo Alto
and its citizens as the Animal Services Veterinarian from September
1973 through May 1997; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Miller contributed to the high quality
of animal care at Palo Alto Animal Services; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Miller used her veterinary skills to
spay and neuter over 96,000 female and male dogs, cats, and rabbits
and prevented the birth of over 570,000 unwanted puppies and
kittens; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Miller provided the citizens of Palo
Alto with a convenient, weekly vaccination clinic, and she served
as liaison between Palo Alto Animal Services and the local
veterinary practitioners; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Miller was nationally recognized for
her contribution to the fight to end pet overpopulation, and she
received numerous commendations during her career for her
professionalism, commitment, customer service, dedication,
courtesy, and genuine caring; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Miller was instrumental in pioneering
early age spay and neuter surgeries, and she provided training and
disseminated information to the public on animal health care
issues; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Miller provided spay and neuter
surgeries to thousands of feral cats who otherwise would have no
population control.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its
sincere appreciation and the appreciation of the community to
Dr. Linda Miller for her faithful and excellent service rendered to
the City.
