RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO
CANINE GERTI VOM NOITHAUSENERLAND
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE
WHEREAS, Gerti Vom Noithausenerland served the City of
Palo Alto and its citizens as a canine team member from July 1993
through January 1996; and
WHEREAS, Gerti Vom Noithausenerland apprehended numerous
criminals, including suspects wanted for homicide, robbery,
burglary, auto theft, and violent assaults; and
WHEREAS, Gerti Vom Noithausenerland assisted several
neighboring agencies with searches for suspects; and
WHEREAS, Gerti Vom Noithausenerland promoted positive
public relations by visiting hundreds of schools, day-care centers,
and outside training classes; and
WHEREAS, Gerti Vom Noithausenerland received several
letters of commendation from the citizens of Palo Alto and Palo
Alto Police Department personnel; and
WHEREAS, Gerti Vom Noithausenerland participated in
numerous public events such as the Police and Fire show; and
WHEREAS, Gerti Vom Noithausenerland has been the
dedicated partner to her handler, Agent Bruce Hollenbeck; and
WHEREAS, Gerti Vom Noithausenerland suffered an early
medical retirement due to_the rigors of police work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its
sincere appreciation, as well as the appreciation of the citizens
of this community, to Gerti Vom Noithausenerland for her faithful
and excellent service rendered to the City.
