RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO COMMENDING THE
OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE OF VICTOR OJAKIAN AS MAYOR
WHEREAS, Victor Ojakian served as Mayor of the City of
Palo Alto from January 7, 2002 through January 6, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Victor Ojakian
conducted Council business in an
covering many extremely difficult
provided strong leadership and
effective and efficient manner,
and sensitive subjects; and
WHEREAS, Victor Ojakian's dedication and commitment to a
higher level of community involvement were demonstrated by his
scheduling of the "Mobile Mayor" meetings, joint dinners with all
the Commissions and Boards, and many appearances at special events;
and
WHEREAS, Victor Ojakian, as a member of the Finance
Committee in 2000 and 2001, used his significant financial acumen
for the good of the community, contributing greatly to the
financial health of the City, and created the Ad Hoc Committee on
the City's Economic Base this year to focus on the economic health
of revenue generation; and
WHEREAS, Victor Ojakian, while consistently promoting
children's athletics, advocated for playing fields and gymnasium
space; and
WHEREAS, Victor Ojakian was a founding participant and
continuous supporter of the Farmer's Market; and
WHEREAS, Victor Ojakian was a strong neighborhood leader
effectively representing the needs of the neighborhood.
WHEREAS, there are enumerable other examples of his
services to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records its sincere thanks and
the appreciation of the community to Victor Ojakian for meritorious
service rendered and contributions made during his term as Mayor.
