RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO
ALTO SETTING THE DATE FOR CONSIDERATION OF
ANNEXATION OF AREA DESIGNATED "QUARRY ROAD
RIGHT-OF-WAY 02-03", PROPERTY LOCATED ON QUARRY
ROAD BETWEEN ARBORETUM ROAD AND THE CITY OF
PALO ALTO ELECTRIC SUBSTATION; APPROXIMATELY
0.061 ACRES
[ASSESSOR PARCEL NUMBER 142-04-014]
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does FIND AND
DETERMINE as follows:
1. Pursuant to the Stanford Sand Hill Development
Agreement dated August 14, 1997, the City of Palo Alto has
received a request for annexation of territory designated
"Quarry Road Right-of-Way 02-03" from Stanford University;
2. Government Code Section 56757 designates the City of
Palo Alto as the conducting authority for this annexation;
3. The property is approximately 0. 061 acres on the
south side of Quarry Road between Arboretum Road and the City of
Palo Alto's electric substation, is contiguous to the City of
Palo Alto and within its urban service limit;
4. There are no special districts that would be
affected by the proposed annexation; ·
5. The annexation would result in the City limit line
being on the edge of a road right-of-way consistent with LAFCO
Street Annexation Policies;
6. The annexation would provide for City services to
be used for the complete road right-of-way;
7. This territory consists entirely of a portion of a
road right-of-way and portions of road right-of-ways are not
required to be pre-zoned;
8. The County Surveyor of Santa Clara County has found
the map and description (Exhibits "A" and "B"} to be in
accordance with Government Code Section 56757, the boundaries to
be definite and certain, and the proposal to be in compliance
with LAFCO's road annexation policies; and

9. Said territory is uninhabited and all owners of
land included in the proposal have consented to this annexation.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto
does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council hereby initiates annexation
proceedings and will consider annexation of the territory
designated as "Quarry Road Right-of-Way 02-03" and detachment
from the County of Santa Clara at its regular meeting of May 6,
2002.
SECTION 2. This action is a condition of approval of
the Sand Hill Road Projects. An Environmental Impact Report was
approved by Council Resolution No. 7685 on June 30, 1997.

All that certain real property situate in the County of Santa Clara, State of California, described as
follows:
Being a portion of the lands of The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University,
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the most northerly comer of the Stanford University Annexation No. 12 to the City
of Palo Alto, as established by City of Palo Alto Ordinance No. 2076, said comer also being a
point on the southeasterly line of Stanford University Annexation No. 3 to the City of Palo Alto,
as established by City of Palo Alto Ordinance No. 1497;
Thence along the southeasterly line of said Stanford University Annexation No. 3, the following
two (2) courses:
l) North 20°39' 10" East, 429.44 feet to the beginning of a curve to the right, having a
radius of 300.00 feet;
2) Northeasterly, along said curve, through a central angle of 04°30'49" and an arc
length of 23.63 feet to the southwesterly line of Quarry Road electric sub-station,
being the lands of The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University
under lease to the City of Palo Alto;
Thence leaving said southeasterly line of said Stanford University Annexation No. 3 and along
said southwesterly line of Quarry Road electric sub-station, South 46°20' 50" East, 7 .85 feet to the
beginning of a non-tangent curve, concave to the southeast, having a radius of 385.00 feet, from
which a radial line bears South 60°01'25" East;
Thence leaving said southwesterly line of Quarry Road electric sub-station, the following five (5)
courses:
l) Southwesterly, along said curve, through a central angle of 09°43'04" and an art
length of 65.30 feet to the beginning of a non-tangent curve, concave to the northeast,
having a radius of 15.00 feet, from which a radial line bears North 62°54'23" East;
2) Southeasterly, along s'aid curve, through a central angle of 37°00' 15" and an arc
length of 9 .69 feet;
3) South 20°12'35" West, 62.49 feet to the beginning of a non-tangent curve, concave
to the south, having a radius of 15.00 feet, from which a radial line bears South
15°10'36" West;
4) Southwesterly, along said curve, through a central angle of 36°46'38" and an arc
length of 9 .63 feet;

5) South 20°12'35" West, 314.81 feet to the northeasterly line of said Stanford
University Annexation No. 12;
Thence along said northeasterly line, North 69°20'50" West, 6.06 feet to the point of Beginning.
Containing an area of 0.061 acres, more or less.
As shown on Exhibit "B" attached hereto and made a part hereof.
