RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO
ALTO SETTING THE DATE FOR CONSIDERATION OF
ANNEXATION OF AREA DESIGNATED "SAND HILL ROAD
RIGHT-OF-WAY 02-01", PROPERTY LOCATED ON SAND
HILL ROAD BETWEEN SAN FRANCISQUITO CREEK AND
APPROXIMATELY 275 FEET WEST OF PASTEUR DRIVE;
APPROXIMATELY 3.192 ACRES
[ASSESSOR PARCEL NUMBER 142-05-019]
The Council of the City of Palo Al to does FIND AND
DETERMINE as follows:
1. Pursuant to the Stanford Sand Hill Development
Agreement dated August 14, 1997, the City of Palo Al to has
received a request for annexation of territory designated "Sand
Hill Road Right-of-Way 02-01" from Stanford University;
2. Government Code Section 56757 designates the City of
Palo Alto as the conducting authority for this annexation;
3. The property is approximately 3 .192 acres on the
south side of Sand Hill Road between San Francisquito Creek and
approximately 275 feet west of Pasteur Drive, is contiguous to
the City of Palo Alto and within its urban service limit;
4. There are no special districts that would be
affected by the proposed annexation;
5. The annexation would result in the City limit line
being on the edge of a road right-of-way consistent with LAFCO
Street Annexation Policies;
6. The annexation would provide for City services to
be used for the complete road right-of-way;
7. This territory consists entirely of a portion of a
road right-of-way and portions of road right-of-ways are not
required to be pre-zoned;
8. The County Surveyor of Santa Clara County has found
the map and description (Exhibits "A" and "B") to be in
accordance with Government Code Section 56757, the boundaries to
be definite and certain, and the proposal to be in compliance
with LAFCO's road annexation policies; and

9. Said territory is uninhabited and all owners of
land included in the proposal have consented to this annexation.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto
does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council hereby initiates annexation
proceedings and will consider annexation of the territory
designated as "Sand Hill Road Right-of-way 02-01" and detachment
from the County of Santa Clara at its regular meeting of May 6,
2002.
SECTION 2. This action is a condition of approval of
the Sand Hill Road Projects. An Environmental Impact Report was
approved by Council Resolution No. 7685 on June 30, 1997.

All that certain real property situate in the County of Santa Clara, State of California, described as
follows:
Being a portion of the lands of The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University,
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the most westerly comer of the lands described as Parcel A in that certain Easement
Deed, from The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University to the City of Palo
Alto, dated August 4, 1959, recorded August 20, 1959 in Book 4519 of Official Records of Santa
Clara County at Page 413, said comer also being the most westerly comer of the Stanford
University Annexation No. 7 to the City of Palo Alto, as established by City of Palo Alto
Ordinance No. 1856, said comer further being a point on the southeasterly line of Stanford
University Annexation No. 6 to the City of Palo Alto, as established by City of Palo Alto
Ordinance No. 1711;
Thence leaving said southeasterly line of Stanford University Annexation No. 6 and along the
southwesterly line of said Stanford University Annexation No. 7, South 41°40'25" East, 49.39
feet;
Thence leaving said southwesterly line of said Stanford University Annexation No. 7, the
following three (3) courses:
1) South 48°19'38" West, 2479.81 feet to the beginning of a curve to the left, having a
radius of 537 .00 feet;
2) Southwesterly, along said curve, through a central angle of 07°09'26" and an arc
length of 67 .08 feet;
3) South 41°10' 12" West, 255.77 feet to the center line of San Francisquito Creek, said
center line being also the common boundary line of Santa Clara and San Mateo
Counties;
Thence along said center line and said common boundary line, North 18°46'04" West, 63.31 feet
to said southeasterly line of Stanford University Annexation No. 6;
Thence along said southeasterly line of Stanford University Annexation No. 6, the following
three (3) courses:
1) North 41°14'21" East, 153.23 feet to the beginning of a curve to the right, having a
radius of 1071.00 feet;

2) Northeasterly, along said curve, through a central angle of 07°05' 14" and an arc
length of 132.48 feet;
3) North 48°19'35" East, 2491.65 feet to the point of Beginning.
Containing an area of 3.192 acres, more or less.
