RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO
ALTO SUPPORTING THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY'S
ENERGY STAR PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") of
the United States Department of Energy ("DOE") has created a
collaborative program supported by retailers, manufacturers and
utili ties to educate the general public about the use of high
efficiency consumer · and office
lighting;
appliances, equipment and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto ("City") has supported
programs that promote energy efficiency and conservation, and
has funded several programs through its Public Benefits Program;
and
WHEREAS, the EPA, DOE and the City wish to enter into a
License Agreement in furtherance of the goals and objectives of
the Energy Star® Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto
does hereby RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council hereby authorizes the City's
participation in the federal government's Energy Star Program,
and further authorizes the City Manager to execute the
memorandum of agreement entitled "Energy Star License Agreement"
on behalf of the City.

SECTION 2. The Council finds that the adoption of this
resolution does not constitute a project under the California
Environmental Quality Act and the CEQA Guidelines and,
therefore, no environment assessment is required.
