RESOLUTION NO. 8031
OF THE
DONATING
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SURPLUS FIRE EQUIPMENT TO
OAXACA, MEXICO
WHEREAS, the Council did in 1964, establish a sister
city affiliation with Oaxaca, MexicQ; and
WHEREAS, the Council
community interests of
understanding; and
desires to continue

apparatus and equipment, a 1974 Crown Fire Engine and a
Braun Ambulance (including gurney and rescue equipment); and

Palo Alto's officially recognized Sister City Program; and

WHEREAS, the Palo Alto University Rotary Club has
volunteered to ship the surplus equipment to Mexicali, Mexico;
and
WHEREAS, the PEMEX Corporation has volunteered to ship
the surplus equipment from Mexicali, Mexico to Oaxaca, Mexico;
and
WHEREAS, Neighbors Abroad has coordinated with the
government of Oaxaca, Mexico and the government of Mexico for
the transfer of said equipment; and
WHEREAS, Government Code section 3711.0

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto
does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. To authorize the City Manager to cause the
donation and transfer of the surplus fire apparatus and
equipment consisting of a 1974 Crown Fire Engine and a 1996
Braun Ambulance (including gurney and rescue equipment) to the
City of Palo Alto's Sis~er City of Oaxaca, Mexico.
SECTION 2. To authorize the Fire Chief of Palo Alto to
coordinate with the Fire Chief of Oaxaca, Mexico, the Palo Alto
University Rotary Club, the PEMEX Corporation, and the Palo Alto
Neighbors Abroad for the transfer of the surplus.
SECTION 3. The Council finds that this is not a project
under the California Environmental Quality Act and, therefore,
no environmental impact assessment is necessary.
