HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 8018RESOLUTION NO. 8018 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR CHARTER MEMBERSHIP IN THE GOLDEN GATEWAY LIBRARY NETWORK OF THE LIBRARY OF CALIFORNIA WHEREAS, in 1998, the State of California created the Library of Cali a and seven regional networks to improve library services on a state-wide and a onal basis; WHEREAS, the Golden Gateway Library Network ("Network"), within which the Pa Alto Library System is located, has been established to improve a library's access to other l s' resources and to improve library technology and services provided throughout the region; WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto ("City'') recognizes the benefits of joining the Network; WHEREAS, the City is willing to comply with the Library of California Act and associated regulations and the terms and conditions of membership in the Network; WHEREAS, the ty is willing to not consider a reduction funding for library services in consideration of the right to participate in the Network to the extent this is both feasible and permissible under applicable law; and WHEREAS, the y is willing to commit its participating libraries to: (a) the sharing of its resources and services with other Network members; (b) the provision of resources and ces to other Network members; and (c) compliance with the minimum resource-sharing performance standards of the Network; NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as lows: SECTION Manager or his application on of California Network. 1.
