HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 7998RESOLUTION 7998 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING APPRECIATION OF FRANCISCO ALFONSO FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD WHEREAS, Francisco Alfonso served the City of Palo Alto as a member of the Architectural Review Board from November 13, 1996, until his untimely death on August 12, 2000; and WHEREAS, Francisco Alfonso was a man of integrity, who provided excellent leadership in his role as Vice Chairperson from October 15, 1998, through his last meeting on August 3, 2000; and WHEREAS, Francisco Alfonso, whose questions and comments were always profound and at the heart of each issue, enthusiastically gave his time and talent to guide the development of the community and to ensure that a high standard of design was achieved; and WHEREAS, with unique insight into architectural problems, keen understanding of a "sense of place," and comprehensive approach to project review, Francisco Alfonso contributed his architectural design knowledge and ideas, giving energy especially to improvement of the "in-between" spaces of projects, to improve many important projects; and WHEREAS, Francisco Alfonso brought to the Architectural Review Board the expertise of academic training, degrees and mastery of professional knowledge in architecture and structural engineering, years of practical experience as an Archi teet and Structural Engineer, along with significant expertise in art and landscape architecture, a depth of understanding of these disciplines and extraordinary abilities in the articulation of design issues, and was thereby able to suggest creative, pragmatic solutions to assist the owners of commercial and residential properties in developing their properties; and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and remember Francisco Alfonso for his personal commitment and pride in the community, for his significant personal efforts and vision, and for his substantial dedication as a member of the Architectural Review Committee. NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records its sincere appreciation and the community's appreciation of Francisco Alfonso for his faithful and excellent service rendered to the City, and hereby extends its sympathy and condolences to his family.
