HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 7949RESOLUTION NO. 7949 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION TO THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY VALLEY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY (VTA) FOR FUNDS FROM THE TRANSPORTATION FUND FOR CLEAN AIR 4 0% PROGRAM MANAGER FUND FOR THE PALO ALTO/STANFORD SHUTTLE INTEGRATION PROJECT WHEREAS, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) is authorized to impose a surcharge on motor vehicle registration fees within its jurisdiction, and surcharge provides funding for the Clean Air (TFCA) , which is used to reduce air pollution from motor WHEREAS, the Transportation Fund for implement strategies to vehicles, and WHEREAS, the Valley Transportation Agency is the Program Manager for TFCA 40% fund in Santa Clara County, and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto is a supporter of clean air and wishes to take action to enhance air quality within the San Francisco Bay Area, and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto intends to submit an application to the Valley Transportation Agency for TFCA 40% Funds for the enhancement of Marguerite Express and Palo Alto Crosstown shuttle services between Downtown Palo Alto and the Palo Alto Cal train station and the Stanford University campus during the midday to provide better service, and NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to file an application with the Valley Transportation Agency for funding from the Transportation Fund for Clean Air 40% program Manager fund for the Palo Alto/Stanford Shuttle Integration project. SECTION 2. The City Council further authorizes the Mayor. to execute funding agreements with the Valley Transportation Agency for said projects if said applications are approved for funding. 1 000317 syn 0090528 SECTION 3. The City Council finds that a request for funds is not considered a project under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and therefore, no environmental assessment is needed at this time.
