RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING
APPRECIATION TO CHERYL PIHA FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE
AS A MEMBER OF THE ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD
WHEREAS, Cheryl Piha, A.I.A., served the City of Palo Alto
as a member of the Architectural Review Board from October 13, 1993,
to September 30, 1999; and
WHEREAS, in her role as Chairperson from October 1997
through October 1998 and as Vice Chairperson from October 1996 to
October 1997, Cheryl Piha demonstrated excellent leadership and
conducted very effective meetings; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Piha generously contributed her time and
talent, architectural design expertise, and ideas to ensure that a
high standard of design was achieved, participating in the review of
important projects including the Stanford Sand Hill projects, Downtown
City Improvement Projects and Palo Alto Medical Foundation project;
and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Piha consistently approached design issues
in a constructive manner, taking into account public perception of
projects, the needs of the applicant, and the goals of the City of
Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Piha brought to the Architectural Review
Board the expertise of an education in architecture and years of
practical experience as a registered Architect, and was thereby able
to suggest creative, pragmatic solutions to assist the owners of
commercial and residential properties in developing their properties;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and
thank Cheryl Piha for her personal commitment and pride in the
community, for her significant personal efforts and vision, and for
her substantial dedication as a member of the Architectural Review
Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City
of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere
appreciation of the community to Cheryl Piha for her faithful and
excellent service rendered to the City.
