HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 7929RESOLUTION 7929 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING ITS APPRECIATION TO BERN BEECHAM FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION WHEREAS, Bern Beecham has served the City of Palo Alto as a member of the Planning Commission from August 1, 1989, to December 31, 1999; and WHEREAS, Bern Beecham has been an active member of the Planning Commission by providing insightful input and analysis of special projects including the Sand Hill project, the new campus for the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, the update of the City's Comprehensive Plan, and numerous other highly visible projects; and WHEREAS, Bern Beecham served on the Capital Improvement Program Subcommittee, the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, and served as Chairman to the Planning Commission from January 1992 to June 1993, and from July 1995 to July 1996; and WHEREAS, Bern Beecham has always identified, articulated, and clarified the essential issues of a project, which has resulted in the Planning Commission being able to effectively address the issues and develop viable solutions to problems; and WHEREAS, Bern Beecham has unselfishly contributed his archi tec.tural, planning, economic, and urban design knowledge, offered his understanding of Palo Alto issues, shared his optimism on the opportunities for Palo Alto, and provided expertise in aesthetics, design, and economics; and WHEREAS, Bern Beecham's significant personal contributions have been made in the interest of guiding the development of the community while striving to maintain high quality design standards; and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and thank Bern Beecham for his personal commitment and pride in the community, for his significant personal efforts and vision, and for his substantial dedication as a member of the Planning Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere appreciation and the appreciation of the community to Bern Beecham for his faithful and excellent service rendered to the City ..
