RESOLUTION_OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO BRUCE ARTHUR HALLBERG
UPON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Bruce Arthur Hallberg has served the City of Palo Alto from
December 8, 1969, through December 31, 1999, as Firefighter, Apparatus
Operator, Fire Captain, Acting Battalion Chief, and Acting EMS Chief in
the Palo Alto Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Arthur Hallberg has pursued his duties for the safety
of our citizens in emergency and non-emergency situations with
unselfishness, enthusiasm, thoroughness, common sense, fairness,
compassion, and courtesy; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Arthur Hallberg was one of the first Palo Alto Fire
Department Paramedics who went into service on January 19, 1975, and
served as a field Paramedic with distinction, passion, and devotion until
his promotion to Fire Captain in March of 1982; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Arthur Hallberg has contributed to the safety and
excellence of firefighters in Palo Alto in the mentoring, training, and
supervision of innumerable probationary firefighters and in precepting
countless Paramedic students over the years insuring their competency and
commitment in the delivery of emergency medical services to the citizens
of Palo Alto and Santa Clara County; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Arthur Hallberg has contributed significantly to
improvements and innovations in Paramedic training, equipment, and safety
as Acting EMS Chief through his leadership and commitment to local and
statewide professional fire EMS organizations; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Arthur Hallberg has been a member of the Palo Alto
community since 1947 and spent his formative years growing up in the Palo
Alto school system and graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1964; and
WHEREAS, through the tireless dedication and commitment to the Palo
Alto community and the Firefighting profession of Bruce Arthur Hallberg,
the City continues to occupy a position of respect in terms of emergency
services provided to its citizens by the City Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto desires to recognize the meritorious
service of Bruce Arthur Hallberg.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Palo
Alto hereby commends the outstanding public service of Bruce Arthur
Hallberg and records its appreciation as well as the appreciation of the
citizens of this community for the service and contribution rendered
during his 30 years of employment with the City.
