HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 7923RESOLUTION 7923 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING ITS APPRECIATION TO KATHRYN CARLETON FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC ART COMMISSION WHEREAS, Kathryn Carleton served the City of Palo Alto as a member of the Public Art Commission from April 1994 through December 1998; and WHEREAS, Kathryn Carleton has given unselfishly of her time and talents in support of the City of Palo Alto Art In Public Places Program; and WHEREAS, Kathryn Carleton has made a significant personal contribution to the community through her diligent and conscientious efforts while serving as a member of the Public Art Commission, including one term as chair; and WHEREAS, during Kathryn Carleton's service to the Public Art Commission, she helped develop a slide presentation to inform political and community leaders of the vital role that public art can play in a city's quality of life; secured funding to support the remake of the popular Greg Brown mural "Roofhoppers"; designed the brochure Public Art Guidelines for Developers; chaired a subcommittee to explore the feasibility of a redesign for Cogswell Park; and provided leadership and advice leading to the acquisition of one mural, ten two-dimensional works of art, and eight sculptures. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo Alto thereby gratefully records its appreciation, as well as the appreciation of the citizens of this community, for the outstanding public service rendered by Kathryn Carleton.
