RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
COMMENDING THE OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE OF
MICKI SCHNEIDER AS VICE MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBER
WHEREAS, Micki Schneider was elected to the City Council of the
City of Palo Alto in 1993, re-elected in 1997, and served in the role of
Vice Mayor in 1998; and
WHEREAS, Micki Schneider served as a Member of the Finance
Committee from 1995-97 and as Chairperson in 1997; and served as a Member
of the Policy and Services Committee in 1994, 1998, and 1999; and
WHEREAS, Micki Schneider was an outstanding Ambassador for the
City of Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, Micki Schneider has offered unique and visionary
perspectives on issues facing the City Council; and
WHEREAS, Micki Schneider was willing to take unpopular stands on
controversial issues and stood firmly behind. her convictions; and
WHEREAS, Micki

community; and
Schneider demonstrated her leadership through her
downtown business community, and her strong and

WHEREAS, Micki Schneider demonstrated her sensitivity, and
humanitarianism in response to many groups in the community in respect to
seniors, children, and families; and
WHEREAS, as an advocate of the arts and culture, Micki Schneider
was a strong supporter of the importance of a healthy relationship between
Stanford and Palo Alto and was instrumental in promoting a joint
Performing Arts Center between Stanford and Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, Micki Schneider was active in Neighbor's Abroad, was an
attentive hostess to foreign visitors, and provided creative mementos and
memories as she shared Spirals crafts with the City; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding public service of Micki
Schneider and gratefully records its appreciation, as well as the
appreciation of the citizens of this community, for the meritorious
service rendered and contributions made during her term on the Council.
