ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 6738 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE POLICY FOR REIMBURSEMENT EXPENSES INCURRED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF A COUNCIL MEMBER'S DUTIES ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 6677 WHEREAS, Section 2.04.390 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code ~s well as Gov~rnment Code Section 36514.5 authorizes this Councili to establish a policy for reimbursable expenses incurred in tt~ performance of a Council Member's duties: and WHEREAS, the Council has had a previous policy which now requires revision and updating1 and WHEREAS, the Council wishes to change its travel policy to require that the Mayor approve in advance individual Council Member out-of-town travel requests the total of which shall not exceed $10,000 in any fiscal year; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The City Council amends the •city of Palo Alto City Council Policy for Travel, Conferences and Miscellaneous Expenses• as provided in "Exhibit A,• which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference. SECTION 2. The Council finds that this is not a project under the California Environmental Quality Act and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is necessary. INTRODUCED AND PASSED: September 19, 1988 AYES: Cobb, Fletcher, Klein, Patitucci, Renzel, Sutorius, Woolley NOES: Levy ABSTENTIONS: None ABSENT: Bechtel ( APPROVED: ~ ~><'d -r~ //Ta}IOr - Reimbursement CITY OF PALO ALTO TRAVEL COUNCIL POLICY FOR TRAVEL, CONFERENCES AND MISCELLANEOUS EXPE~SES EXHIBIT A OUT OF TOWN CONFERENCES OR MEETINGS All General Fund payments for travel and meetings shall be on the basis of either reimbursement of expenses advanced by the Council Member or payments made directly to travel agencies, hotels or the organization sponsoring the meeting. All requests for payments or reimbursements must be accompanied by supporting vouchers, invoices or paid receipts and a copy of descriptive literature about the conference or meeting. The Mayor shall approve in advance, individual Council Member travel requests for out-of- town meetings and conferences, e.g., Annual League of California Cities Conference, National Lealue of cities Conference, etc. Local or Bay area actf vi ties wil not require prior approval by the Mayor. The total amount shall not exceed $10, 000 in any fiscal year.
