ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 6723 ------------RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO APPROVING THE 1988 AMENDMENT TC THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN TO COMBINE THE NORTH AND CENTRAL SUBREGIONS, RENAME THE SOUTHWEST SUBREGION AND PROVIDE CONTINUED ACCESS TO GUADALUPE MINES LANDFILL, AND PROVIDE FOR ANNUAL REPORTING REGARDING WASTE REDUCTION TC ACHIEVE THE PLAN•s 25\ GOAL BY 1995 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palo Alto has previ- ously concurred in the principles and objectives of the Solid Waste Management Plan for Santa Clara County: and, WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Intergovernmental Council has requested that this City consider amending the Plan to include the provisions of this Amendment to the Solid Waste Management Plan for Santa Clara County (a copy of which is attacbed hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit A); and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara has heretofore a~opted a Negative Declaration under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in connection with said proposed Amendment; and approved the Amendment? NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does hereby RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The City of Palo Alto as a responsible agency considered the environmental effects of the proposed Amendment as shown in the Negative Declaration. SECTION 2. The Amendment to combine North and Central Sub- regions, rename the Southwest Subregion and provide continued access to Guadalupe Mines Landf 111, and provide for annual report- ing regarding waste reduction to achieve 251 goal by 1995, an amendment to the Solid Waste Nanagement Plan for Santa Clara County a copy of which is attached hereto a.a Exhibit A is hereby approved. SEC::TION 3. Concurrence in the principles and objectives of th~ said Plan is reaffirmed by the City of Palo Alto. SECTION -4. The City Clerk is directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the IGC Solid Waste Colr6l!ittee for Santa Clara County, c/o Paula Stoner, Solid Wast~ Planning Program Analyst, County Government Center, 79 West Bedding Street, 7th Floor, East Wing, San Jose, CA 95110.
