ESTABLISHING
RESOLUTION NO. 6649 • THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AN INTERNATIONAL VISITORS COMMITTEE
OF NEIGHBORS ABROAD
WHEREAS, Neighbors Abroad, operating under the auspices of
the City of Palo Alto, serves the community's international and
intercultural interests; and
WHEREAS, Neighbors Abroad directs the activities of Palo
Alto's officially recognized Sister Cities program; and
WHEREAS, Neighbors Abroad brings an increased understanding
and appreciation of other cultures and people to the citizens of
Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, the Palo Alto community attracts an increasing
number of international visitors; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto would like community partici-
pation in welcoming their official guests: and
WHEREAS, citizens of Palo Alto have indicated that they are
willing to host visito~s !orm other countries on a volunteer
basis.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto resolves
that Neighburs Abroad establish an International Visitors Com-
mi t tee whose purpose it shall be to draft guidelines for visitor
activities (mindful of established protocol governing official
visits of foreign dignitaries), maintain and utilize computerized
information to bring about compatible matching of hosts and vis-
itors, and to disseminate information to promote international
awareness and to encourage active community support.
