HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 6639• • RESOLUTION 6639 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING ITS APPRECIATION TO TltE MEMBERS OF THE TEMPOIWlY COMMITTEE ON DOWNTOWN DESIGN AND AMENITIES FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE WHEREAS, the members of the Temporary Comittee on Downtown Design and Amenities have served the City of Palo Alto from August 5, 1986 to June 8, 1987; and WHEREAS, John Northway has been an active member of the *Amenities~ Comittee by serving throughout its duration as a most enthusiastic and diligent Chairman, and has unselfishly contributed his architectural knowledge, offered his understanding of Downtown Palo Alto issues; shared his optimism on the opportunities for Downtown Palo Alto, and elicited significant contributions from his fellow COlllP.ittee members; and WHEREAS, Ken Alsman has been an actiYE\ member of the "Amenities• COllltittee representing the Historic Resources Board and has unselfishly contributed his planning knowledge, his value for preserving buildings of historic and architectural interest and his enthusiasm for pro.otfng Downtown vitality; and llHEREAS. Jonathan King has beEul an active lllelllber of the •Amenities• C011Dittee and served on a subcomnittee ev\luattng economic incentives, and has unself1shiy contributed his outstanding values toward improving the quality and vitality of Downtown Palo Altn; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Lathrop has been an active lllellber of the *Amenities• C01111tttee and served diligently on a subconmittee evaluating ecohomic incentives, and has unselfishly contributed her ti111e, intelligence, energy and comprehensive knowledge of Downtown Palo Alto; and llHEREAS, Orlando Maione has been an actiYe llellber of the •Amenities• C0111111ttee representing the Visual Arts Jury, and has unselfishly contributed his architectural knowledget his interest 1n pro1ROt1ng public art thr\)Ughout Downtown Palo Alto and his understanding how urban design plans can be initiated; and WHEREAS, Phyllis Munsey has been an active member of the •Amenities• Comittee, and has unselfishly contributed her understanding of Downtown property owner concerns and needs in the Com1ttee's consideration of appropriate benefits and incentives; and llHEREAS, Shirley Wilson has been an active lllelQber of the *Allenities• Com1ttee, and has unselfishly contributed her architectural knowledge, her interest in improving Downtown alleys for pedestrians and !\er enthusiasm in promot\ng a year-round farmer's market; and flHEREAS, James Witt has been an active member of the • Alleni t 1 es• Coamittee, and has unselfhhly contributed his knowledge of construction and restoration lnd his enthusiasm for p1~n~1ng the enhancement of Do'1fttown Palo Alto; and NHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and thank each member for-his or her personal co.itment to the comunity and interest in Downtown Palo Alto and for his or her significant personal efforts and substantial dedication as a member of this Coaaittee; llD#, THEREFORE, LET Jr BE RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere appreciation and the appreciation of the community to the members of the Temporary Coanittee on Dovntown Design and Amenities for their fa;thful and excellent service rende~ed to the City.
