RESOLUTION Of THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO JEAN McCOWN FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF
THE PLANNING COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Jean Mccown has served the City of Palo Alto as a member of the
Planning Commission from July 16, 1979 to July 31, 1987; And
WHEREAS, Jean Mccown has been an active mP.mber of the Planning Conn1ssion
by serving as Chairman from August of 1981 through July of 1983 and as a member of
various subcol'lll11ttees; and
WHEREAS, Jean Mccown has ~nself1shly contributed her kn~iedge and
experience to Commission deliberations and has assisted the C011111ission in
articulating its positions on the many planning issues ;t considers; and
WHEREAS, Jean McCown's significant personal contributions have been made
in the interest of guiding the development of the conmunity while striving to
maintain important socia.~ values; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and thank Jean Mccown
for her personal pride in the connunity and her significant personal efforts and
endless hours of devotion as a member of the Planning C011111ission, including hours
spent in consideration of the 1980 review ~nd update of Palo Alto's C011Prehensive
Pla", the 77-acre Arastra propert, study, the Terman Specific Plan, the Stanford
West Environmental Impact Report, the Downtown Study, the Citywide· land Use and
Transportation Study, Pnd many. mar.1, many applications for zone changes,
subdivisions, parcel maps, site and desiyn reviews, and environmental impact
reports, and, on occasion, appeals from the actions of the Zoning Administrator;
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo
Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere eppreciation and the
appreciation of the coanun1ty to Jean Mccown for her faithful and excellent service
rendered to the City.
