WHEREAS, cultural exchange resulting from peq1e-to-people o::>omJnication is the
f oundaticn of the Sister City Program, which attenpts to further international under-
sta'lding: and

WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to welcome Silvia Gutierrez Candiani,
Arturo suarez Perez, Ana Laura Guzman Vargas, Rebeca Amaoo Perez, Mauricio Vargas
F.:Jbila, Homero Pablo Perez Sosa, Cesar David Lcp!Z Palacios, Gabriela Jarquin
Fernandez, and Matilde Vargas Hernandez; and
WHERFAS, participation in this cultural exchange exelJl>lifies the nutual d:>jec-
tives of the two cities, namely, to pt'OIOClte, encourage, and cultivate understanding
between the people of OaMCa aid Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, the cgxxtunity to welcome the oaxaca visitors t.o Palo Alto has proven
