RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO
JAMES C. ZURCHER
UPON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, in 19 58, James C. Zurcher began his law enforcement
career in Southern California serving the citizens of Colton, Santa
Monica, and Imperial Beach; and
WHEREAS, James c. Zurcher served the City of Sierra Madre with
distinction as Police Chief from 1967 to 1971; and
WHEREAS, James C. Zurcher has served the city of Palo Alto for
the past sixteen years as Police Chief; and
WHEREAS, James C. Zurcher has given unselfishly of his time and
talents to provide progressive leadership on behalf of the total
community; and
WHEREAS, James C. Zurcher has pursued his duties with dignity,
enthusiasm, thoroughness, common sense, fairness, and courtesy; and
wHEREAS, thro~gh the efforts and contributions

WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto desires to recognize the
meritorious service of James c. iurcher.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; that the Council of the City of
Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding public service of James c.
Zurcher and records its appreciation as well as the appre~iation of
the citizens of the community for the servi~e and contribution
rendered during his tenure as Police Chief with the City of Palo
Alto ..
