RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CI~ OF PALOOAFLTO G11v,,Al
EXPRESSING ITS APPRECIATION TO THE MEMBERS '1
THE PALO ALTO CHILD CARE TASK FORCE
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC seRVICE
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto for many years has been in the
forefront among local governments in its support for child care as an
essential community service1 and
WHEREAS, despite Palo Alto's substanti•1l investment in child
care services, the need for child care services by families living or
working in Palo Alto has continued to exceed the supply: and
WHEREAS, on March 3, 1986, the Palo Alto City Council directed
Mayor Mike Cobb to appoint a Task Force to examine methods by which
employers Qight provide increased child care information and services
in Palo Alto1 and
WHEREAS, the Palo A:to Child Care Task Force has presented its
recommendations to the City Council in a thoughtful, well-researched
report which shall provide important guidance to the Council and
community as measures are implemented to stimulate gre .;:.er employer
participation in the provision of child care services.
~'ow, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED I that the c ounc i 1 of the city of
p; 1.0 Alto does hereby express its appreciation and gratitude to Task
Force co-chairpersons Laura Cory and Diane f:l'organ, members Dorothea
~lmond, Stephen Avis, James Battersby, Mary Bobel, Dana Bunnett,
Cynthia Cannady, .Kate Feinstein, Joan Fisch, Leland Muckey, Mechele
Pruitt, Cee Salberg, Rachel Samoff, Michael Sullivan and Don Way, and
ex-officio members L. Kathleen Austin, Joe Podolsky and James Van and
commends the Palo Alto Child Care Task Force f?r its outstanding
public service.
