RFSOLUTION NO. 6598
RESOLUTION OF THE COU~CIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO,
AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A CLAIM ~ITH THE METROPOLirAN
TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR ALLOCATION OF TRANSPOR'l'ATION
DFVELOPMENT ACT FUNDS FOR FI~CAL YEAR 1987-88
WhEREAS, thd Transportation Development Ac~ (•ToAn), as amended
(Public Utilities Code section 99200 et seq.), provides for the
disbursement of funds from the Local Transportation Fund of th~
County of Santa Cla~a for use by eligible claimants for the purpose
of providing com~unity tran$it services; and
WHBREAS, pursuant to the provisions of tne TOA, as amended, and
pursuan~ to the applicable rules and regulations thereunder (21 ca1.
Admin. Code section 6600 et seq.), a prospective claimant wishing to
receive an allocatiC"n from tre Local Transportation Fund shall file
its claim ~ith the Metropolitan Tcanspoctation Commission~ and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo A\to ic an eligible claimant for TOA
funds, pursuant to Public Utilities Code section 99275 as expressed
in the City of Palo Alto's opinion of counsel, dated Mar~h 16, 198~;
and
WHEREAS, TOA funds from the Local Transportatio~ Fund of Santa
Clara County will be required in fiscal year 1987-88 to provide
subsidized taxi serYice for elderly and handicapped persons who are
unable to us~ public transit and cannot drive aut?mobiles:
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City cf Palo A!to does
RESOLVE as follo~s:
S~CTION l: The Council hereby approyes and authorizes the
City Manager to exec•:.to and file an appropriate claim, together with
all necessary suppo~tin9 documents, with the Metro~olitan
Transportation Commission for an alloc~tion of TOA funds in fiscal
year 1987-88 to continue the existing paratransit ptogram known as
Project Mobility.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a
copy of this resolution to the Metropolitan Transpcr~ation Commission
in conjunction with the filing of the claim, and th~ Metropolitan
Transportation Commission is requested to concur in these findings
and grant the allocations ~f fuuds as specified herein.

SECTION 3: ThP Council finds that the adoption of this
resolution does not constitute a project as dJfined by the California
Environmental Quality Act or Title tI of the Palo Alto Municipal
Code.
