OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO
EXPRESSING AFPRECIATION TO
GILBERT JOSEPH BARREIRA
UPON BIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Gilbert Joseph Barreira ~as served the City of Palo
Alto from September 12, 1960 through December lP., 1986, as Fire
Apparatus Operator, Fire Inspector, and Fire Captain in the Palo Alto
Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Gilbert Joseph Barreira has pursued his duti&s for
safety of OUL citi~ens with enthusias•, thoroughness, comillon sense,
f airnes~, compassion, and courtesy1 and
WHEREAS, Gilbert Joseph Barreira has taken an active part in
Fire Department programs such as f i~e suppression, fire training, and
fire preventicn7 and
WliBRBAS, through the efforts and contributions of Gilbert Joseph
Barreira, the City continues to occupy a po~ition of raspect in terms
of emerg.ancy services pi:ovided to its citi~ens by thEt City Pire
Department: and
WHEREAS, the City of Palll Alto desires to recognize the eftri-
torious service of Gilbert Joseph Barreira.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Counc.l.l of the City .:>f
Palo Alto hereb~· cvamends the outstanding public service of Gilbert
Joseph Barreira and records its appreciation as well as the appre-
ciat ion of the citizens of this coaaunity for the Rervice and contri-
bution rendered during his 26 years of employment with the City.
