HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 6571------------·---------------------------------------. . • • ORfGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 6571 RESOLUTION OF ~HE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING TriE PALO ALTO COMPREHENSIVB PLAN TO ADD A PROGRAM ON DENSITY TRANSFER WHEREAS, t~e Planning Commission of the City of Palo Alto, on February .1.2 and 20, 1986, and March 6, 1986 held a properly- noticed public hearing to consider amendments to the Palo Alto Comprt!hensi ve Plan affecting the C-o"mtown Area, including a new program on density transfer; and WHEREAS, THE City Council of the City of Palo Alto on April 21 and Pby 12, 1986, held a properly-noticed public hearing to consider such amendments, and on June 2, 1~86, continued the den- sity transfer program to be considered with the proposed revisions to the Historic Preservation Ordinance on October 27, 1986. NOW THEREFORE, the Counci! of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. Thn City Council finds that-. changed conditions ~nd the public interest, health, safety a~d welfare require amendment of the Palo Al to Comprehensive Pla11, .tlS set forth in Section 2 below. SEC'rION 2. Program 6A and text is hereby added to th"! Urban Design ele•ent of the Palo Alto Co•prehensive Pl'!n to read as follows: Program 6A: Allow the tran: fer of development rights for ~csignated buildings of historic or architectural significance (Historic Categories 1 and 2) within the Commercial Downtown (CD) zone through the Planned Com- munity (PC) zon~ process. A transfer of developmen~ rights progra• would per- mit tr•nsf~rring the difference between th~ amount of existing development and the maximu• permitted develop- ment :fro• categories 1 and 2 historic building sites to non-historic recei~~r sites. Both sites would have to be located within the Downtov~ CD zoning district. The receiver sites: 1. Shall be at least 150 !eet fro• r~sidentiall1 zoned properties: 2. Shall be permitted to receive a .aximum additional floor area ratio of 0.5 to 1 ~bove what woul~ otherwise be permitted for the site; 3.
