RESOLUTI OF THE COUNCIL OF THE Cl1. F PALO ALTO
AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF UTILITIES ·ro SUBMIT A PROPOSAL FOR
CCNTKIBUTION OF FUNDS TO THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT FOR
DEVELO~!tENT Of I\ LEWISTON POHER PROJECT ORIGINAL
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto is a chartered municipal
corporation operatin~ under the laws in the Constitution of the State
of California1 and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto operates its own electric utility
for the provisi~u of electri~al power to customers within its eervice
area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto is willing to explore new and
innovative ways to provin~ resources for electric capacity and energy
for said customers;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City Palo Alto does RESOLVE
as follows:
SECTION 1: The Director of Utilities is authorized to develop
a~d submit a sealed proposal, on terms and conditions determined by
him, to the United States Government Bureau of Reclamation and
Western Area Power Administration for contributing funds to the
study, design, and construction of a new hydro-electric power plant
at the Lewiston Dam Division of the Central Valley Project, which
proposal dhall not exceed tlie cost, on a per Kw basis, of similar
hydro-electric pro)ects available to the City.
SECTION 2: Funds from the Palo Alto Electric System Improvement
Reserve shall be made available for this proje~t.
SEC'l'ION 3: An}' agreement ari:;ing o:..t of this proposal between
the United States and the City of Palo Alto shall be subject t~ th~
final app~oval of the City Council.
