RESOLUTION Or' THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY Or., PALO ALTO
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A
JOINT EXERCISE OF POWERS AGREEMENT CREATING THE
AUTr.iORITY FOR CALI~'ORNIA CITIES EXCECS LIABILITY
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto, along with other California munic-
ipalities, has found it difficult or impossible to purchase excess
liability insurance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto, as well as other municipalities,
has determined that there is a need for funding a system of excess
liability; and
WHEREAS, Palo Alto desires to combine with other California munic-
ipalities to establish, operate, and maintain a joint powers authority
for funding such excess liability coverage; and
WHEREAS, sections 6500 et seq. of the California Government Code
authorize the joint exercise by two or more public agencies of an~·
power common to them;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does hereby
RESOLVE as follo~s:
SECTION 1. The City of Palo Al to hereby approves membership in
the Authority for California Cities Excess Liability and authorizes the
mayor to execute on behalf of the City the joint powers agreement
establishing such authori~y.
SECTION 2. Palo Alto hereby designates its loss control manager
as its authorizerl representative on the board of directors of the
Authority for California Cities Excess Liability.
