RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CIT'i OF PALO ALTO
GRANTING TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ( $10, 000) FROM COM-
MUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT CONTINGENT FUNDS TO
PENINSULA CHILDREN'S CENTER
WHEREAS, the Peninsula Children's Center (PCC) was allocated
Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars { $25, 000) in Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the City of Palo Alto in fiscal year
1984-85 for the purchase of its group home at 3838 L~ Selva Drive,
Palo Alto1 and
WHEREAS, when PCC found it more difficult to purchase the
home than they anticipated, they negotiated with Housing for
Independent People (HIP) for HIP to purchase the home and PCC to
lease it with an option to purchase; and
WHEREAS, in order to complete the purchase, PCC needs an
additional Thirty-Three Thousand Dollars {$33,000); and
WHEREAS, PCC has requested an additional Ten !housand Dollars
($10,0QO) from the City of Palo Alto and an additional Ten Thou-
sand Dollars ($10,000) from Santa Clara County and will raise the
additional Thirteen Thousand Dollars ($13,000) themselves; and
WHEREAS, the CDBG Citizens' Advisory Committee recommended
that Ten Thousand Dollars { $10 ,000) of CDBG contingent funds be
granted to the PCC for the acquisition of the home.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council of the City of Palo Alto grants an
additional Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000) from the Community
Development Block Grant ( COBG) contingent fund to the Peninsula
Childre'.'l's Center (PCC} for the acquisition of its group home at
3838 La 3elqa Drive in Palo Alto.
SECTION 2. The total grant of Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars
($35,000) shall be made to Housing for Independent People (HIP)
with the condition that all funds be used for the purpose origi-
nally intended by PCC in the 1984-85 CDBG application, and that
the lease/option agreement between PCC and HIP contain a provision
that will enable PCC to purchase the home for Two Hundred and
Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ( $225, 000) less a seventy ThoufJand
Dollar {$70,000) down payment.
SECTION 3. The Council of the City of Palo Alto finds that
this 1s not a project under the California Environmental Quality
Act, and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is neces-
sary.
