RESOLUTION Uf THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSIN~ ITS APPRECIATION TO SENATOR REBECCA MORGAN
FOR HER SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION
WHEHEl\S. Senator Reoecca Morgrn during her first term as State
Senator, has shown dedication and leadership in representing Palo Alto
and the 11th Senatorial District; and
WHEREAS, Senator Rebecca Morgan has been very effective in par-
ticipation on Senate Committees on Transportation, Education, Toxics
and Public Safety, and Energy and Public Utilities, committees which
are of great importance to Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS,

Senator Rebecca Morgan as Vice Chair of the Toxics and
Management Committee has become a forceful advocate for
issues which are of great significance to Palo Alto;
WHEREAS, Senator Rebecca Morgan has taken a leadership role in
the advancement of legislation which will deal with the important
issues of JOint and several liability, transportation funding and
recycling; and
WHEREAS, Senator Rebecca Morgan's previous banking experience,
ex~erience as a Supervisor on the Santa Clara County Board of
Supervisors and former member of the Palo Alto Board of Education are
beneficial to Palo Alto because of her sensitivity to legislation
affecting local government, particularly 'r.d use, fiscal and trans-
portation issues.

Palo Alto hereby reco9nizes the outstanding contributions of Senator
Rebecca Morgan and looks forward to working with her in future years
to secure passage of legislation of high priority to the City of Palo
Alto.

EXP~ESSING ITS APPRECIATION TO ASSE~BLYMAN BYRON O. SHER
FOR HIS SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION
WHE~EAS, Assemblyman Byron D. Sher is a former Councilmember and
Mayor or the City of Palo Alto and continues to reside in Palo Alto;
and
WHEREAS, Assemblyman ~yron o. Sher has represented Palo Alto and
tne 21st Assembly District in the State le\JiSlature for three terms;
and
WH£KEAS, Assemblyman Byron D. Sher has been very effective in
the Assembly Committees on Toxic Materials and Environmental Safety,
Utilities and Commerce, Natural Resources and Criminal Law and Public
Safety, all of which are extremely important to Palo Alto; and
WHEKEAS, Assemblyman 13yron o. Sher is the current Chairman of
the Assembly Natural Resources Committee and is a strong advocate for
environmental matters; and
WHEl{EAS, Assemblyman i:jyron o. Sher has exerted continuing lead-
ership in the areas of nazardous materials man~gement; and
WHEREAS, Assemblyman Byron D. Sher has earned the gratitude of
the Lea~ue of California Cities for his willing legislative assistance
on issues of importance to local government statewide and is known in
Sacramento as the legislator who, without compromising his principles,
is willing to be responsive and open on many diverse issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Palo Alto hereby recognizes the outstanding contributions of
Assemblyman Byron o. Sher and looks forward to working with him in
future years to secure passage of legislation of high priority to the
City of Palo Alto.
