RESOLUTION NO. 6465
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
ACCEPTING WORKS OF ART FROM RICHARD SHAFFER
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto has long recognized the impor-
tance of visual art in our community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Al to established an Art in Public
Places Program in 19777 and
WHEREAS, the Visual Arts Jury of the City of Palo Al to in
support of the Art in Public Places Program has embarked on a
campaign to seek contributions of art by artists who have either
lived or worked in the City of Palo Alto7 and
WHEREAS, contributions to the Art in Public Places Acquisi-
tion Program has resulted in 26 new work~ of art1 and
WHEREAS, the artist, Richard Shaffer, made contributions of
his works entitled •screens,• •stairway,• •Platform,• •still-Life
with Inro,• •Rooms,• •Interior {with screen),• •collar• and •shelf
of Correspondencew (intaglio prints) to the City's Permanent
Collection.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE to accept these works of art and expresses, on behalf of
the residents of Palo Alto, our deepest appreciation and gratitude
in recognition of these generous contributions to the City of Palo
Alto.
