RESOLUTION NO. 6462 •
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
ACCEPT I NG WORKS OF ART F'ROM MR. AND MRS. PH I LL IP
N. KIRKEBY
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto has long recognized the impor-
tance of visual art in our community: and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto established an Art in Public
Places Program in 19771 and
WHEREAS, the Visual Arts Jury of the City of Palo Al to in
support of the Art in Public Places Program has embarked on a
campaign to seek contributions of art by artists who have either
lived or worked in the City of Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, contributions to the Art iri Public Places Acquisi-
tion Program has resulted in 26 new works of art# and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip N. Kirkeby made contributions
of works of art entitled •cosmic Entity, State III• (etching,
aquatint 2/9) by Joseph Zirker and •11.14.81 1981• (etching
[hard-ground] 10/13) by Frank Lobdell to the City's Permanenl
Colle~tion.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE to accept these works of art and expresses, on behalf of
the residents of Palo Alto, our deepest appreciation and gratitude
in recognition of these gen•31rous contributions to the City of Palo
Alto.
