WHEREAS, Howard Carl1le retired on October 25, 198~. as a
µolice officer after 24 years of continuous service with the Palo
Alto Police Uepartment: and
llHEREAS, Howard Carlyle maintained an overall hiyh level of
productivity and attention to detail; and
WHEREAS, Howard Carl.>1 1 e was .,iromoted to the rank. of Sergeant

WHEt<EAS, Seryeant Carlyle has given unselfishly of his time
and talent to provide outstanding leadership for the Police

di~nity, enthusiasm, thorou~hness, common sense,
