RESOLUTION Cf" THE COUNCIL CF THE C ITV OF PALO ALTO
RECOGNIZING THE PRESENCE OF• AHO WELC()tlNG TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
REPRESENTATIVES OF OAXACA, OAXACA, MEXICO 1
WHEREAS, cultural exchange resulting from peop1 e-to-peopl e communication is the
foundation of the Sister City Program, ...ttich attempts to further international under-
standing; and
WHEREAS. the City of Oaxaca is Palo Alto's Sister City in Mexico and has honored
Palo Al tJ by sending its representatives to visit this cf ty; and
WHEREAS, the City cf Palo Alto wishes to welcome Marco Antonio Silva Gutierrez,
Antonio Wool rich Bermudez, Donald MacBeath Rocher, Silvia Vargas Hernandez, Adriana
Bustamante L., Veronica Iriarte G., Max Octavio Jarquin Fernandez, Hector Castaneda
I., Ana Leticia Morales. Isabel Cristina Ruiz Martinez, Ernesto Suarez Linares, Alicfa
Ballesteros R., Cecilia Guzman G., Veronica Diaz Carball1do. and Pedro Sandoval
Centeno; and
Wl£REAS. participation in this cultural exchange exemplifies the m1Jtual objec-
tives of the t~ cities, nil'l'lely. to promote. encourage and cultivate understanding
bet~en the people of Oaxaca and Palo Al to; and
WHEREAS. the opportunity to *lcorne the oaxaca visitors to Palo Alto has proven
to Ile mutually beneficial.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Palo Alto City Council recognizes the presence of Marco
Anton10 Silva Gutierrez. Antonio Wool rich Bermudez, Donald MacBeth Rocher. Silvia
Vargas Hernandez, Adriana Bustamante L.1 Veronica Iriarte G., Max Octavio Jarquin
Fernandez. Hector Castaneda I., Ana Leticia Moral es, Isabel Cristina Ruiz Martinez.
Ernesto Suarez Linares, Alicia Ballesteros R.1 Cecilia Guzman G., Veronica Diaz
Carballido, and Vedro Sandoval Centeno to this c0tnmunity.
SECTION 2. That this Council, on behalf of the people of Palo Alto, expresses its
heartfelt appreciation to the City of Oaxaca and its representatives for their
significant contribution to the Sister City progran.
