RESOLUTION (}" THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
RECOGNIZING THE PRESENCE Cf", AND WELCCJl1ING TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
REPRESENTATl VES Cf' ENSCHEDE, THE NETHERLANDS
WHER£AS, cultural exchange resulting from people-to-people coom1unication is the
foundation of the Sister City ProgrCITI which attempts to further 'fnternatf onal under-
stand1ng; and
WHEREAS, the c; ty of Enschede is Palo Al to1 s Sister Cf ty 1n The Netherlands and
has honored Palo Alto by sending its representatives to visit this city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to welcane Willen Mijnarends1 Max van Dam,
Nadia Kafu, Gijs de Rooij, Loes van Dam, Christine Brusse, Peter Cohen, Dennis Loep,
Patrick van Eij ck., and J oop Teekamp; and
WHEREAS, participation in this cultural exchange exemplifies the mutual objec-
tives of the two cities, nanely, to promote, encourage and cul tivat.e understanding
bet\lleen the people of Enschede and Palo Al to; and
WHEREAS, the opportunity to welc00te the Enschede visitors to Palo Alto has proven
to be mutually beneficial •
NOW. THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Palo Alto City Council recognizes the presence of Willem
Mfjnarends) Mu van Dam, Nadia Kafu, Gijs de Roofj, Loes van Dam, Christfne Brusse 1
Peter Cohen, Dennis Loep1 Patrick van Eij ck 1 and Joop Teekamp to this cmmunity.
SECTION 2. That this Council, nn behalf of the people of Palo Alto, expresses its
heartfelt appreciation to ~ ... .<:! City of Enschede and its representatives for their
significant contribution to tt.e Sister City progran.
