RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO
JAMES HERBERT MCLAUGHLIN
UPON HIS ~ETIREMENT ORIGINAL
WHEREAS, Ja•es Herbert McLaughlin has served th~ City of Palo
Alto from July 19. 1954 through Dece111ber 27, 1984, as F1ref1ghter,
Fire Apparatus Operator, Fire Captain, Fire Training Officer,
Battalion Chief, Znd Assistant Fire Chief, Assistant Fire :':hief, and
Fire Marshal 1n the Palo Alto Ff re Department; and
WHEREAS, Jaaes Herbert McLau.ghl in has pursued his duties t·or the
safety of our c1tfzens with enthusiasm. thoroughness, co••on 3-ense, fairness, co•passfon and courtesy; and
WHEREAS. J 111es Herbert Mel aughl in has taken an active part 1 n
Fire Depart•ent progra•s such as fire suppression, fire training, fire
prevention, and ff re ad•1n1strat1on; and
WHEREAS, through the efforts and contributions of JaMes Herbert
Mclaughlin, the City continues to occupy a position of respect fn
ter•s of emergency services provided to its citizens by the City Fire
D epart•en t; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto desires to recognize the
meritorious service of James Herbert Mclaughlfn.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Palo Alto herei>y couends the outstandfng pub11c service of Ja•es
Herbert Mclaughlin and records its apprec1atfon as well as the
apprec1atfon of th:J citizens of this co••unfty for the service and
contrfbutfon rendered during his 30 years of e•ployment with the
City.
