' ' ;, ~ _....,, ii Ii'"'"'"" RESOLUTION NO. 6350 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO DESIGNATING THE CHIEf TRANSPORTATION OFFICIAL AS THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING CERTAIN DECISIONS UNDER CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE SECTION 35401.S WHEREAS, pursuant to sect ion 35401. 5 of the Ca 1 i fornia Vehicle Code, local agencies may, in conjunction with the California Department of Transportation, jointly identify and sign access to terminals; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION l. rhe Chief Transportation Official of the City of Palo Alto is hereby d-asignated as the person in the city responsible for jointly identifying and signing with the Department of Transportation of the State of California connections within the city of Palo Alto between terminals and highways as specified in the California Vehicle Code, Section 35401.5. SECTION 2. Upon notification from the Department of Transportation;-any terminal facility owner or o~erator, or any owner or operator of a vehicle desiring access to such facilities, the Chief Transportation Official shall Jet ermine whether any route or routes are adequate to accomodate the vehicle combinations specified in Section 35401. 5 and may be used as terminal connect ion routes. The decisions of the Chief Transportation Official shall be final unless otherwise directed by the City Council. SECTION 3. The Chief Transportation Official shall, in his or her discretio~, ~etermine which routes, if any, are adequate and shall take all reasonable steps necessary to recover for the City of Palo Alto the costs of identifying and signing such routes from said owners and operators of the vehicles or terminals. SECTION 4. The Chief Transportation Official may revoke any identification of access to terminals and order removal of signs if the terminal or route, in the opinion of the Chief Transportation Official, becomes a traffic hazarJ for vehicular traffic. SECTION s. The Council finds that th~ provisions of this resolutio~ will not have a significant adverse impact on the physical environment.
