RES'JLUTION OF THE COUNCIL 01'' THE CITY UF PALO ALTO
TO SUPPORT THE •suBSTANC~ ABUSE PREVENTION AND
SUPPRESSION PROG~• AS A JOINT VENTURE WITH,
AND TO ~E ArHINISTERED B'i, THE PALO ALTO
UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto desires to support a certain
project in conjunction with, and to be administered by, the Palo Alto
Unified School District, entitled •substance Abuse Prevention and
Suppression: A Model program•) and
WHEREAS, this Substance Abuse program will be funded in part from
funds made available through State General Funds as authorized by
Chapter 9 52 of the 1983 Statutes, for the Cal if orn ia suppress ion of
Drug Abuse in Schools Program, administered by the State Office of
Criminal Justice Planning {hereinafter referred to as OCJP)~ and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto's matching commitment to this
Substance Abuse program will be 20% of the total project cost, and
which matching funds will consist of the wages paid for personnel
alrearly employed by the City of Palo Alto;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE
as follows:
SECTION l. The City of Palo Alto agrees to support the •substance
Abuse Prevention and Suppression• program as a joint venture with the
Palo Alto Unified School District.
SECTIOh 2. The City Manager, or his desi~nee, is designated as
the official representative of the City of Palo Alto for this joint
venture with the Palo Alto Unified school District, and, as such, he is
authorized on benalf of the City of Palo Alto, to enter into an
inter-agency agreement with the Palo Alto Unified School District for
the purpose of jointly submitting the 1rug suppression project
application to the Office of Criminal Justice Planning.
SECTION 3. The Council finds that this project will have no
significant environmental impact.

Education and the legislat;ve body of the law enforcetTJent co-applicants. We agree
tnat the Adm;nistrative agent for the project shall be Palo Alto Unified School Dist
