RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CJTYllF"PALO ALTO IN SUPPORT
Of PROPOSITION 28 (CALIFORNIA SAFE DRINKING WATER soun LAW OF 1984)
WHEREAS, the cal i fornf a State legislature and the Governor of the State
of California have reviewed and placed Proposition 28, the California
Safe Or1nk1ng water Bond la~ of 1984, on tne November 1984 b3llot; and
WHEREAS. if approved the measure would provide for the issuance of
state bonds not to exceed Seventy Ffve Million Dollars ($75,000.000) to
aid in the planning, design, and construction of facilities for the
protection of domestic water supplies; and
WHEREAS, more than six hundred c011111unity water systems in California
fail to meet state or federal health and safety stan~ards; and
WHEREAS, economic growth and quality of life depend upon the
availab;lity of safe drink;ng water;
HOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo "lto does RESOLVE as
follows:
SECTION l: The Council of the City of Palo Alto supports the passage
of Proposition 28 on the November 1984 bJllot.
