RESOLUTION NO. 6319
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION 25 (CLEAN WATER sorm LAW OF l 9A4)
WHEREAS, the California State Legislature and the Governor of the Stat~
of Cal1forn1a have reviewed and placed Proposition 25, the Clean water
Bond Law of ~984, on the November 1984 ballot; and
WHEREAS. if approved t~ pro~siti~n will provide a Three Hundred
Twenty Five Million Dollars (S325,000,000) bond issue to fund water
pollution control, water conservation, and water reclamation; and
WHEREAS. the Proposition provides for its funds to be used as follows:
Two Hundred and Fifty Million Dollars {$250,000,000) for treatment
plant construction grants and loans; Forty Million Dollars
($40,0001 000} for ~~all cnmmunity treatment plant grants; Twenty Five
~11111on Oollars {$25,000,000) ·for water reclamation project loans~ and
Ten Million Dollars ($10,0001 000) for water conservation program loans;
and
WHEREAS. by providing grants and loans to local governments for cost
effective capital outlay water conservatioo programs~ the Proposition
will save millions of gallons annually; and
WHEREAS. the Proposition will continue a proven program that cleans up
water pollution and reduces the cost to local governments;
NOW. THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
follows:
SECTION l. The Counci 1 of the City of Palo Al to supports the ;>a~·.sage
of Proposition 25 on the Novemoer 1984 ballot.
