RESOLUTION NO. 6318
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
APPRUVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS UNDER THE
REGIONAL COMPETITIVE PROGRAM OF THE CALIFORNIA PARK
AND RECREATIONA~~ FACILITIES ACT OF 1984 FOR
DOWNTOWN PARK NORTH
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the
California Park and Recreational F~cilitie~ Act of 1984, which provides
funds to the State of California and its political subdivisions for
developing facilities for public recreational purposesr and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks a.1d Rec re at ion has been
delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program
within the state, setting up necessary procedures governing application
by local agencies under the program7 and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the State Department of
Parks and Recreation require the applicant to certify by resolution the
approval of applications before submission of said -~!)plications to the
state 1 anci
WHEREAS, said applications contain assurances that the applicant
must comply withr and
WHEREAS, the applicant agency will enter into an agreement with
the State of Caitornia for development rehabilitation or restoration of
the projectf
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of P~lo Alto does
RESOLVE:
SECTION 1. The City approves the filirg of an application for
1984 state grant assistance for the Downtown Park North project.
eECTION 2. The City certi~ies that it understands the assurances
and certification in the application.
SEC~ION 3. The City certifies that it has or will have sufficient
funds to operate and maintain the project.
SECTION 4. If the project is selected for state grant funding,
the City certifies that it will pro~ide construction plans and specifi-
cations to the state within one year of the appropriation of funds
under thi.s program and will commence work immediately after state
approval.
SECTION 5. The City appoints the City Manager or his designee as
agent of the City to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all
documents including but not limitP.d to applications, agreement~, amend-

men ts, payment requests, and so on, which may be necessary for the
completion of the aforementioned project.
SECTION 6. The Council finds that this is not " project: there-
fore, no environmental assessment is required.
