' O·RIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. ~~8~ RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF td!TY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL (SEIU) ADO?TED BY RESOLUTION NO. 6032 AND AMENDED BY RESOLUTION NO. 6068, RESOLUTION NO. 6126, AND RESOLUTION NO. 6150 The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article III ol the Charter of the City of Pelo Alto, the Compensation Plan adopted by Reaolution 6032 as amended by Resolution No. 6068, Resolu- tion No. 6126, and Resolution N~. 6150 is hereby amended effective June 23, 1984. SECTION 2. The Compensation Plan as adopted by Resolution No. 6032 as amended by Resolution No. 6068, Resolution No. 6126 and Resolu- tion No. 6150 is amended as set forth in Exhibit •A• attached hereto and incorpor&tec herein by reference. SECTION 3. Except as amended herein, all of the terms and pro- visions of Resolution No. 6032 as amended by Resolution 6068, Resolu- tion No. 6126 and Resolution No. 6150 shall remain in full force and effe-:t. SECTION 4. The Council finds that this is not a project under the Cal iforni.a Environmental Quality Act and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is necessary. SALARY COMPENSATION PLAN FOR THE CITY OF PALO ALTO Classified Personnel A. Salary Range Table Personn~l covered by this plan shall receive compensation within the salary ranges set forth in the Salary Range Tables that follow Section II. The salary range for each position classification title and nllllber is expressed in bi-weekly and/or hourly rates along witl1 the approximate monthly and/or. annual equivalent. B. Establ isflllent of Salary The City Manager is authorized to make appointments to or advancements within the prescribed ranges upon evaluation of employee qual1ffcation and per- fonnance. 1. Working Out of Classfffcat1on, and ln-L1eu Holiday Pay Compensation for overtime work, working out of classification and scheduled work on paid holidays shall be in conformance with the Merit Rules and Regulations and Ac*n1n1stratfve Directives. Ellployees who regularly work night shifts shall receive appropriate night shtft prafWIS, relating to nfght shift hours worked, 1n addftton to base pay for holidays, sick leave and vaeatfon. £. Un1fom Allowance All anployees for ~ unffonu are not provided but who ~re required to wear specific cloth1~ fn the pcrfcm1ance of their jobs shall ~efve two hundred dollars ($200) per year untfon1 all!MBnce. Thfs section shall include, but not be 11•1ted to, Ani•l Shelter and Foothflls Part employees. All un1forM el lowances shall be paid bf-weekly. COMPENSATION PLAN -Classified Employees Page 3 · F. Tool Allowance 1. Effective with the ~ period that includes May 1, 1983, mechanics in EqufJXllE!nt Maintenance shall be paid a tool allowance of $275 per year. 2. All tool allowances shall be paid bi-weekly. G. Group Insura!l£! L Health Plan The City shall pay all praq1tan payments on behalf of employees who are eligible for coverage under the health plans as described in Subsection (a) and (b). Any pranfum rate increases will be adjusted according to provfs1ons of the current ManorandllD of Agreenent. The following options w111 exfsG: (a) Employee and dependent coverag2 under the ex1c~·;ng Kaiser Health Plan S contract,_ 1nclud1ng the Drug Plan III optfon. (b} ~loyee and dependent coverage under the existing City of PalO Alto Ellployees' Health Plan with major medic:al maxiauu of $250,000. 2. Retired E!?loyees The City shall, upon sut.littal of evidence of pa)'lllent, re1mburse up to $90 per quarter of medical plan premiums on behalf of classified unit employees who ret1;-e ,,,.. ~he C1ty under service or d1sab;1ity ret1NJ1ents after April 1, 1978. · The retiree uy select any medical plan. The plan may cover e11g1ble dependents as defined under the C1ty Employees 1 Health Plan. Ko re111bursaent will be •de for plans providing benefits other than mecUcal and health benefits. 3. Dental Plan The C1ty shall pay all pret1t1111 ~ts on b-~lf of ll!lllPloyees, and dependents of employees, who are e11gfble for coverage under tt,e City's ~e1f-1nsured dental insurance plan. · · The City shall ass'8M! any premh• rate increase in existing anployee and dependent dental cover•ge. . 4. Basic life Insurance The Cfty shall continue the basic life insura,,ce plan as currently in effect for the tenR of this tCJllPf!f)Sation plan. 5. Lons Ter.a Disabi11t.r Insurance The City shall continue the long tena disabfi1ty insurance plan cur- rently 1n effect for the tenn of this cmpensat1on plan. Ellployee COMPENSATION PLAN -Classified Employees Page 4 coverage is subjEct to a voluntary payroll deduction of the insurance premfllll applfcable to the f1rst $2000 of monthly salary for Plan B or the first $1800 of monthly salary for Plan A; the C1ty will pay premiums in excess thereof. The City will pay up to $17.50 per month of premium f~r those employees w~thout eligible dependents covered under the health insurance. H. Parking The City shall provide 111 classified employees with parking privileges in the Civic Center garage at no cost to such employees.
