RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
OBSERVING AND CELEBRATING THE 90TH BIRTHDAY
OF THE CITY
WHEREAS, the City of Palo A1 to was first incorporated on April
16, 1894 and became a Charter City in 1909; and
WHEREAS~ 1984 marks the 90th Anniversary of Palo Alto's history
as a municipal corporation; and
WHEllEAS, during the past 90 years. Palo Al to has grown from a
small village to the diversified and active city we know today; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto enjoys an excellent reputation
for the high quality of services 1t provides its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the services, prograru and env·ironment of the City of
Palo Alto enrich the lives of its citizens and make Palo Alto a highly
aesirable place to live; and
WHEREAS, it is the goal of the City Council and st.~ff to
ma;ntain Palo Alto's natural and cultural resources and protect the
City 1 s heritage as a pleasant and attractive residential community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Palo Alto hereby observes and celebrates the 90th e;rthday of the City
and encourages all residents to join the• in reflecting on the City's
history and the quality of life we enjoy here today.
