HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 6249"r • • • RESOLUTION NO. 6249 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITt OF PALO ALTO TO SUPPORT THE uSUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION AND SUP- PRESSION PROGRAM• AS A JOINT VENTURE WITH, AND TO BE ADMINISTERED BY, THE PALO ALTO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto desires to support a certain pro- ject in conjunction with and to be administered by, the Palo Alto Unified School District entitled nsubstance Abuse Prevention and Sup- pression: A Model program·~ and WHEREAS, this Substance Abuse program will be funded in part from funds made available through State General Funds as authorized by Chapter 952 of the 1983 Statutes, for the California Suppression of Drug Abuse in Schools Program, administered by the State Off ice of Criminal Justice Planning (hereinafter referred to as OCJP)1 and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Al to' s contribution to this Substance Abuse program will not be in the form of funds but will be in the form of providing city law enforcement services in support of the Substance Abuse program; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION l. The City of Palo Alto agrees to support the •substance Abuse Prevention and Suppression• program as a joint venture with the Palo Alto Unified School District. SECTION 2. The City Manager, or his designee, is designated as the official representative of the City of Palo Alto for this joint venture with the Palo Alto Unified School District, and, as such, he is authorized on behalf of the City of Palo Alto, to enter into an inter- agency agreement with the Palo Alto Unified School District for the purpose of jointly submitting the drug suppression project application to the Office of Criminal Justice Planning. SECTION 3. The Council finds that this project will have no significant environmental impact.
